The outcome of this program is to ensure improved learner academic performance. This is one of the underlining reasons for the creation of the M4C space, to bridge gaps of the South African Educational system. This pillar aims at creating and advising schools on safety, facilitating the feeding scheme program and having workshops for the team.
Advising and facilitating safety at schools
Because we work in an area with a high crime rate, safety remains an issue. This safety affects both tutors and children. As an organization we aim to create a safe space for everyone under our care which is why we would love to facilitate a security system beyond closing and locking of school gates. Having at least one security present in both schools would be a step in the right direction.
Facilitated access to feeding scheme
Nutrition and food play a huge role in learner participation in a classroom. We work with children from disadvantaged backgrounds, we must prepare at least one meal for them since the chances of a child arriving to school on an empty stomach is quite high. The repercussions of this action are impaired learner concentration which ultimately results in a huge drop in academic performance. Initiating a feeding scheme program that is driven by the organisation would be of great help.
Quarterly workshops
We host two workshops for tutors which assist in upskilling tutors. During these workshops, class experiences and various teaching methods are shared, and this helps to identify any gaps that may need attention. The workshops also ensure that we compliment the Department of Education curriculum in each grade.
